Urbana High School Basketball Program vs Lincoln Railsplitters Jan 14 1972 IHSA

You are bidding on a rare (un-scored and pencil-marks free!) high school basketball program from a boys hoops game played January 14, 1972. The game was between two Illinois prep basketball teams, the Urbana High School Tigers and the Lincoln Railsplitters. Lincoln was undefeated and ranked second in the Class AA state-wide polls at the time (behind eventual state champion Thornridge HS).
The game was played at Urbana so all the interior and exterior ads feature Urbana, IL businesses. The program (12 pages including the front and back covers) features the Urbana varsity team (individual photos of the players, managers and statisticians, the varsity and JV cheerleaders, the Urbana Swimming team, the Urbana Wrestling team ? all with names of the participants.
There are also photos of the Urbana coaches (Elmer Plew and Sam Wright) 7

and 8
th
grade basketball teams at Brookens Junior High coached by Bill Granse, as well as the 9
th
grade team coached by (Coach Graham) and the Sophomore
team, coached by Sam Wright).
The program has a few creases and the bottom right corner (all pages) has a small crease, but as you can see the program is in very nice condition. It has the original staples (one of them is rusty) and overall you can tell it has been handled with care over the last 48 years.
The Urbana players, managers and statisticians featured in individual photos are co-captains Joe Henderson and Tom Wallace, plus Joe Fisher, Paul Tinsley, Doug Laz, Orin Hutchcraft, Tom Harms, Mike Mock, Phil Berg, Gary Kling, Russ Rosenberger, Bob Henson, Jim Wright, Rick Crook, Dawson Banks, Jim Arie, Ken Jones & David Lucas.
The varsity cheerleaders are Lois Christians, Lauri Odom, Christa Bundy, Becky Fieldbinder ?Tigg?, Kathy Hickman, Susan Thompson and Carylon Dawn. The JV cheerleaders are Anda Tinberg, Linda Hamilton, Linda Brooks, Debbie Arie and Jeanne Hamilton.
The Lincoln players names listed in the program are Jeff Boss, Clayton Reed, Greg Ely, Mike Swingle, Mike Schneider, Joe Foster, Norman Cook (an all-state player and future NBA first round pick of the Boston Celtics!), Scott Betzelberger, Herb Gorens, Tim Bushell and John Bunner. Lincoln was coached by legendary Illinois high school coach Duncan Reid.
The program comes in a plastic sleeve with board backing.
