    The Dedicatory Address and Activation of Power Generation was by
    Vice President Richard M. Nixon
    .
    The Governors of both Oregon and Washington also spoke.
    The all-day Open House at the Dam had High School bands from The Dalles, White Salmon, Moro and Goldendale.  An Air Show (Oregon Air National Guard) and a Water Show (Portland Water Ski Club) were features of the Open House.
    The program, when folded as designed, measures 8” x 10.5”

    Vice President Richard Nixon is scheduled to dedicate The Dalles Dam on the Columbia River Saturday.  The dam hit the headlines earlier this week when Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hubert Humphrey charged during a talk there that Republicans are taking credit for public projects "developed and built" through legislation by Democrats.

    (AP- The Dalles): An expected crowd of 17,000 persons here Saturday for the dedication of The Dalles Dam on the Columbia River. Vice President Nixon will give the key address at the dedication program for the giant federal project. Parking areas will be provided for some 6,500 vehicles. There will be seating space for 1,200 persons in front of the speakers' stand. Gov. Albert Rosellini, will be host for the program, which will be on the Washington side of the river. Other scheduled speakers will include Gov. Mark Hatfield of Oregon. Sen. Richard L. Neuberger D-Ore) and Lt. Gen. Emerson C. ltschner, chief of the Army Engineers.
    All project operations from the powerhouse to the fish ladder stations will be open for inspection by the public from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. A floating dock was placed earlier in the week on the Washington shore a few hundred yards upstream from the navigation lock for hundreds of expected boats. The Dalles Yacht Club facilities also will be available.
