    Kingdom Bronze Statue of Buddha
    Seated in
    dhyanasana
over a squat double-lotus base, clad in a diaphanous
    sanghati
draped over the shoulder, the face with long nose and heavy-lidded eyes, the hair pulled over the
    ushnisha

    ca. 12-16th century.
Buddhism arrived in Sri Lanka in the 2nd century BC thus some of the oldest Buddha images in Asia originated in Sri Lanka such as the one I am offering in this listing. The statue measures 3 X 2 1/4 x 7/8 inches with expected age wear as seen in the images. Ex. Jeff Hunter Collection New York City acquired at auction from his estate.
