    Description

This cup, one in a series by the Louisville retailer and jeweler Merkley Kendrick, features the winner of the Kentucky Derby, and the year of the race, engraved on it's bottom.  In the case of this cup, it's for Pleasant Colony, who won the Derby in 1981.
This julep cup is 3 1/2" tall and 2 7/8" in diameter at the top and 2 3/8" in diameter at the base.  Heavier than many cups, this one weighs 155 grams, or 5 troy ounces.
This cup has three bands of decoration at the top and bottom rims.
On the bottom, it is marked:  Merkley Kendrick, since 1832, Pleasant Colony '81, and sterling.
