You are bidding on a rare antique Mark J Scearce of Shelbyville, Kentucky Sterling Silver commemorative platter stamped with President Lyndon Baines Johnson’s (LBJ) initials. It measures approximately 11 inches in diameter with a total weight of 613 grams or 21.61 troy ounces. Triple C monogram at the center.  As seen in photo, this is in excellent condition. Once in a while, the presidential Mint julep cup come up for auction but the platters are quite rare. These handmade pieces were made to order and there were never hundreds on a shelf for sale.  The platters are much more scarce than the cups. When they were ordered, Wakefield Scearce stamped the initials of the USA President in office at the time it was made. The bottom of the piece will also display the sterling mark, the company’s eagle hallmark, Mark J Scearce, Shelbyville, Kentucky. This is a rare piece and I presume could hold 4 julep cups. This could possibly be a complete custom piece as there are no others for sale anywhere. The Initials “ CCC “ may help identify to whom this wonderful tray may have belonged. I ship worldwide.
