    Description

    Edwardian Sterling silver baby cup. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca 1910 Gently upwards tapering sides, scrolled bracket handle, and flat rim. Gilt-washed interior. Two acid-etched frames with little girls from around the world (each in national costume) giving thanks at table. A third frame, bordered by potted rose bushes, is vacant. Below is phrase: "It is very nice to think the world is full of meat and drink / with little children saying grace in every Christian kind of place".
    Based on design no. 1484 by William B. Kerr in Newark. Gorham acquired Kerr in 1906.
    Fully marked including maker's (Gorham) and retailer's (Bailey, Banks & Biddle) stamps, and no. 281180.
