French Sterling Silver Raised Marriage
Bowl with Hallmarks Marked Chalon 1788
Presented is a fantastic French solid silver Marriage bowl with two handles attached with hearts and a raised scalloped shape pedestal base with hallmarks for silver made in Chalon and a date mark of 1788. I have posted pictures of my research in the photos above. It has a great engraved bold letter dedication of Francoise Dessus De Nolay around the side below the rim.
Chalon is on Burgundy’s Route des Grands Vins.
It is a stunning piece with a high finish, some pin-prick dings, a scratched identity or stock number on the bottom next to hallmarks with only some fine scratches from gentle use and care and no monogram. It is an amazing piece, great for any number of uses and a great find for the silver collector.
