For sale is an exceptional, one-of-a-kind antique sterling silver gilt beaker with the mark
of PAUL STORR (1771-1844), London 1831, during the reign of William IV. From
his workshop royal and noble patrons commissioned some of the richest and most
extravagant creations that ever have graced the mansions and palaces of Europe.
This handsome beaker is 4-1/8" tall and weighs 9.35 troy oz., or 291 grams. Made in
two parts with a removable liner, only the liner is marked by PAUL STORR and hallmarks
for London, the year 1831 and STERLING. The exterior part is unmarked, possibly cast
and with finely chased figural scenes of a royal court setting (see Biblical Magi) amidst
floral and scroll borders. Possibly an ecclesiastical vessel, in good estate condition.
Never monogrammed.
