ANTIQUE PORCELAIN ROSENTHAL STUD COLLAR BUTTON BOX~ BAVARIA GERMANY 1900

Description

I am offering this wonderful antique collar button box made by Rosenthal Porcelain/China Company of Bavaria, Germany. This button box dates back to late 1890's to 1900 according to the Rosenthal bottom stamp. The box is made of porcelain/china and measures 1 3/4" tall and 2 1/2" wide and comes complete with it's original lid. This is the small round box with the collar design. It was made to hold the collar buttons from the day. This little box is decorated in delicate tiny purple flowers and the edging of the flowers are made with a type of raised texture. The gold accent does have some wear from the years and the button box does have 2 chips. One seems to be an old chip that is smooth to the touch and probably happened 100 years ago and this is located on the edge of the lid rim. The other flaw is a slight sliver type chip that is on the inside rim of the box. I have photos of both above. The bottom is marked with the hallmark of the Rosenthal company and also M.W.S. initials. I don't know if this was the artist's initials or the original owner of the button box. Still a beautiful piece of history to collect from years gone by.
