ANTIQUE MAHOGANY VENEER WOODEN SARCOPHAGUS SEWING BOX PIN CUSHION TOP & TRAY

Up for your consideration is a
nice
antique mahogany wooden sewing box. It has
a
sarcophagus shape with a velvet pin cushion top and removable inner tray. The tray is well-constructed with dovetail joints. Nice escutcheon but there is no key.
Some wear to the box, a few dings, some loss/damage to the veneer (primarily in the back - please see 11th photo - and around the corners), a bit of wear to velvet top. The velvet (and possibly the stuffing underneath) appear to have been replaced but not recently. Wooden tray is missing some dividers or it may have had thread winders there originally. Inside bottom of box is missing one of
the little
corner pieces that hold up the tray (4th photo) but does not seem to affect the positioning of the tray.
The lock mechanism is a little loose - I don’t know if it
works since there is no
key.
Still a very nice antique sewing box that is functional and displays well!
Box weighs approximately 2 3/4 lbs. before packaging.
Great for holding your sewing items!
