NOTE:
the most awesome scraps of newspaper and other printed paper was used at the time of creating the slipper caddy to stiffen / reinforce the stitch work and
bead work
backing.
Due to age and usage the fabric liner has broken down and come apart and now exposes some of these fantastic printed clippings. I tried to capture some of the clippings in the photo as shown) – there are more clippings however, I did not want to handle the fragile lining very much

silk has become fragile / worn / areas missing over time as shown (adds charm and authenticity to this wonderful Victorian piece of home décor)

please, note there are two leaf parts missing (right hand facing edge) – not that noticeable because of the puffed trim
