Antique 1890s Curly Maple Scenic Handmade Sewing Box

Description

This antique sewing box was handmade in 1890. It is made of curly maple and is transfer decorated with scenery on all sides. The top depicts a woman walking in front of an elaborate church. One side has a lake with several men fishing on the shore. The back has a small picture of a house or barn. The fourth side shows a house perched high on a tree lined hill. The front side has two pictures of old stone bridges and people. The box opens to a double sewing storage compartment which lifts up and out for more space. The sewing box measures 10 1/2 inches by 7 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. It is in excellent antique condition. The inside pink paper lining is in good condition.
