    small shrine of the Amitabha Buddha meditating above a peacock. This 19th-century Burmese marble statue imbued with a miraculous presence of power and charms. Peacock is a Buddhist symbol of bodhisattvas in that they have the ability to transform poison, such as ignorance, desire and hatred--- and lead them into enlightenment. The shrine is hand-painted over an aged mustard white marble stone. Depicting Amitabha Buddha radiating with awareness and peace, with his left hand gracefully rested on his lap in a meditation gesture, and his right hand reached down in the Mara Vijaya Earth Witness Mudra (Bhumisparsha), simultaneously at the moment when the heaven-bound peacock unfolding his tail feathers. In style, this small marble carving succeeded to preserves its natural beauty with a child-like sweetness, which effectively enhanced the provincial charisma of the Buddha in form and countenance.
