    Description

Here is an official program from the annual celebration Pirate Treasure Days in Coos Bay and North Bend Oregon. August 6-8, 1948. I have not found exactly what this celebration was, but I believe Coos Bay one deemed themselves as the “Treasure Chest of Oregon”. One group that reveled during the celebration was the Coos Bay Pirates. The Coos Bay Pirates, a local booster club, was formed in 1922. The club’s first leader was Marion S. Taylor who called himself Captain Kidd. The group is mentioned twice in the program. There was a queen and her court, an air show, a dance, a carnival, a concert and more. Two page pictograph type map in the middle. And lots of local advertising. About 8 ¼” x 11” and 28 pages. Mild general wear and light soiling. See images.
